It’s Wednesday again!  I have scanned the local grocery ads for Albertsons, Kroger, Tom Thumb and Walmart.  Both Walmart and Target will match prices in the ads.  I like to then base my weekly meals/snacks around whats on sale.  Last week my total grocery bill game to $122.79!  That was with 2 packs of diapers.

Here are some highlights for this week:

2 Liter Pepsi products $.88

Fritos (7oz-9.5 oz) 2 for $3  –    use for Taco Salad dinner

Tide (again!) 50 oz $4.99

Eggo Waffles (again!) $1.49

Stew Beef/cubed steak $2.99/lb  –  use for Beef Barley soup dinner

Hillshire Farm sausage $2.99-  use for Dirty Rice dinner

Tom Thumb

Goldfish packages (6-8oz)  5 for $5  Great deal to stock up on!

Minute Maid 64oz carton drinks (oj, lemonade..) $.99

Seedless black grapes $.99/lb

3 pack Ivory bar soap 10/$10

Awesome experiment for kids- Blow up Soap in the microwave it’s so fun!

Suave deodorant 1.4 oz  10/$10  ( any deal like this just means it’s $1 each, you don’t have to buy 10)

Zatarain’s boxed rice mixes 10/$10-  get the dirty rice mix for a dinner meal

Swanson chicken broth 14 oz 10/$10

Fresh Express garden salad 12 oz   10/$10

Sweet Potatoes 10lbs for $10 ( or $1 a pound)– pancake dinner

(1) Barley Beef Soup  super easy, if you don’t like mushrooms substitute carrots and add potatoes.  Serve with crusty bread.

meat and veggies ready to roast

Soups on!

(2) Zatarain’s Dirty Rice

Follow package instructions to cook rice.  Then add in Hillshire Smoked sausage sliced into bite size pieces, and/or browned ground beef, and/or cooked chicken.

(3) Taco Salad

Dump 2 bags chopped lettuce into a large bowl.  Add 1 can rinsed and drained black beans.  Add 1 can drained corn.  (Add 1/2 lb browned ground beef or 1 cup diced cooked chicken).  Add 1- 1.5 cups salsa.  Serve with crushed Fritos on top and ranch dressing on the side.

(4) Sweet potato Pancakes

My kids love breakfast for dinner!  Bake 3-4 sweet potatoes at 350 for about 30-40 minutes till soft.  Peel skin and mash.  You can use a pancake mix and follow the instructions adding in the mashed sweet potatoes or make your pancakes from scratch.  Cook on a griddle or pan as you normally would cook pancakes.  Serve with butter or mix some honey into your butter for a delicious topping.  Serve with fruit (maybe grapes?)
